During the 1840's and 1850's, over 5,000 emigrants left their native homeland of Wales for a new life in America to build "Zion". This was the largest Welsh migration in history. Many came from Gwynedd, Meirionydd and Montgomeryshire. Many could not speak English and some would indeed go to their graves still speaking only their native tongue. Today over 20% of residents in Utah can claim Welsh ancestry, and many townships and Counties still hold annual Eisteddfods... the purpose of this website is to help people find out more about these tough emigrants, and gain access to the many records they left for their posterity...

  • Who were these people?

  • Which Welsh towns and villages did they come from?

  • What moved them to emigrate?

  • What hardships did they endure?

  • What records did they leave us?

  • Are you related to them?
